Deadlines may be closer than they appear!

I saw this sign hanging in a yearbook room the other day, and thought it was very appropriate. Only a few work days left and most of you will have a deadline due. It is critical that you submit your pages so we can get to work on them over the break. I realize that pressing the Submit button can be scary, but we've got to let pages get into production. Put on your best 'editing hat' and take a final look at those pages.
If you are doing your book online, make sure to print a PDF of each page and look for any text that has lines through it. This indicates that you need to re-size your text box. Also, make sure to take some time to celebrate all of the hard work you have done up to now! Reward and recognize those great staff members of yours and then go and relax over your Holiday Break! Thank you for everything you do!

Portrait CD's are coming! Keep your eyes open

Well, it's that time of year again when portrait cd's from your photographers begin showing up on campuses. Keep your eyes open for them. Once you have received your disc(s), get in touch with your Rep and figure out if you will be mailing it to the plant, having them pick it up, or uploading the cd via our ftp site ( don't worry if you don't know what that means, it's kind of a tech thing that some folks like to use). Once the plant gets your cd, they will load it within 3-5 days of receiving it. Once it is loaded, you will be minutes away from being able to complete your portrait pages. Nothing feels better than to sit down for 30 minutes or so, and knock out your first deadline! Watch for those CD's!!!

Photography: Color Backgrounds... A good thing?
PhotographyAs more of you do more color pages (many of you doing all-color books) your students experiment with different color backgrounds. And sometime those backgrounds can really change the way the photos on the page look when the book is printed. Many times I have had advisers ask me why their senior pictures look kind of orange when they put full page bleed red backgrounds over them.

So you got this cool new camera...
PhotographyOK, many of you now have a fancy new SLR digital camera, and that's great! But perhaps you don't know much about the f-stops or aperature settings. Here is a spectacular sight for your photographers to visit and play with a virtual camera. They get to change the settings and see what happens to the image! It is truly amazing.

What's The Big Idea?
Adviser HelpIt’s all in how you look at it! Coverage from one year to the next needs to be fresh and inviting. The goal of the staff is to make each yearbook
distinctive and tailored to the unique activities and events of the year. While we must cover the same areas and some of the same ideas every year, we can
challenge ourselves to uncover unique aspects and angles that will make stories interesting.
